For over 45 years, Woodson Jewelers, Music & Pawn has been providing the Jacksonville, NC area with the highest quality of new and pre-owned goods on the market, ranging from; jewelry, instruments, collector coins, electronics and more. We are one of the oldest pawn brokers in the area! Our store started as a side business in the early 1970s helping musicians buy and sell musical equipment for loans, and as time went on we grew into quality jewelry sales, musical instrument sales, and more.

Robert w. Gasperson, Sr - Founder & Owner

Since 1972, owner and founder, Robert Gasperson Sr. has focused on customer service and business integrity. Here in Onslow County, NC, Robert began his career as a bank officer with the Bank of North Carolina and in 1972 purchased his own music store and eventually added loans to satisfy his customer’s needs. By 1997 Gasperson Inc was operating eight locations including one in Goldsboro, Havelock and in the Jacksonville Mall. Today Gasperson Inc. operates Woodson Jewelers Music and Pawn as well as commercial rentals and other investments. It is our goal to make every customer know that he or she is important to us and we appreciate their patronage.


Susan Marie Gasperson - Vice President

Woodson Jewelers, Music & Pawn is a family-owned and operated store in Onslow County, NC. Susan Gasperson has been married to Robert W. Gasperson Sr. for 25 years and has helped their store grow with professional and certified gem and fine jewelry appraisals. Susan has over 26 years of jewelry experience and is a 1995 GIA Graduate Gemologist and 1996 Certified Appraiser from ASA and NAJA. She provides expert jewelry design consultations, loan advisor, and jewelry buying services. She is Vice-President and accountant for Gasperson, Inc.

Robert w. Gasperson, Jr - Treasurer

Robert Gasperson Jr. takes pride in helping his parents run and maintain Woodson Jewelers, Music & Pawn. When he is not working in the office as a treasurer, he is acting as salesman, or loan clerk. Robert Jr. is currently attending Campbell University at Camp Lejeune campus as a Psychology major. He is an accomplished pianist, having formal instruction since 2003 and has served as section leader in a college choir and schola. His musical experience is very helpful for the music department at Woodson.


Jeffrey Collins - Inventory Coordinator

Jeff is a lifetime resident of Onslow County, NC where he was born and raised, and where he continues to live with his wife and son. With over 35 years of professional pawn-broking experience at Woodson’s, he guarantees to always offer the right value for your items. Jeff is an expert pawnbroker and manages our music department as buyer and inventory control admin. He also has extensive jewelry sales experience.

George Burford - Computer Entry Coordinator

George Burford has been working as a professional pawnbroker for more than 38 years, and has been working with Woodson Jewelers, Music & Pawn for 34 years. George specializes in providing expert valuations on all of your pre-owned and used goods, including; instruments, electronics, coins, firearms and more. He is invaluable as our computer coordinator and controller for merchandise pulling and pricing. He lives with his wife who teaches music in the Onslow County School System and their daughter.


Anthony Mendonca - Jewelry Repair Specialist

Living here all my life, I find myself having the opportunity to work at a local Pawn store, “Woodsons”. With the fifteen years of being employed here, I have 14 years of jewelry bench repair. My experience consists of ring sizing, stone setting, chain and bracelet repair, as well as customized pieces; all with selective precious metals. Outside of repairing, pawnbroking also is in my experience criteria.

Homer Spring - Computer Analyst & Advisor

Homer Spring, born in Edenton, NC, is a longtime resident of Onslow County and is now serving in his 40th year as a mathematics teacher. After retiring from the Onslow County School System, where he taught math at Dixon High School for 35 years, he now continues to teach math at the private Infant of Prague Catholic School in Jacksonville. He is a graduate of ECU and has been married for 40 years to Lauri Spring. Homer is invaluable to Woodson’s as our expert in computers and electronics, cleaning the disk drives, assessing and advising us on systems, pricing, and market status.

Bill Nevitt- Guitar Technician

Bill Nevitt has been a friend and loyal customer of Woodson Music for 45 years. He is now our Guitar Technician and is a professional expert guitarist. Bill refurbishes, tunes, restrings, appraises and repairs our vast inventory of new and pre-owned guitars and amps. Bill is in the store a lot and if you are lucky you may get the chance to hear him play whenever he is testing out one of our guitars on the floor.
